In 2020, IAG (International Audio Group) sees LEAK – a onetime British audio heavyweight founded in 1934 – returned to its former glory. LEAK combines its renowned 20th century art-deco styling with today’s most advanced audio technologies to deliver timeless style with modern talent.

A QUALITY SANDWICH

The perfect loudspeaker is home to a driver cone that's feather light and stiffer than frozen rope. But light materials are rarely stiff. So, 50yrs ago, Leak fashioned a single cone membrane by sandwiching together two materials (one light, one stiff) and created a loudspeaker icon. Today, the Leak Sandwich is back, reintroduced and re-engineered with modern-day learnings, to prove that just like the BLT, the Banh Mi, the Club, the Reuben, the Tuna Salad and the Philly Cheese, a quality Sandwich never goes out of style.

SANDWICH 150

This 2-way standmount loudspeaker includes a 1.2" (30mm) coated textile dome high frequency driver and a 6.5” (170mm) Aluminium-Foamcore Sandwich mid/bass cone driver. At just 450 x 215 x 305mm, Sandwhich 150 is ideal for those small-to-medium listening/living rooms.

VANQUISHING THE HORSEMAN

Combining remarkably low mass for rapid transient response with immense rigidity to vanquish the three horseman of cone distortion (transit "hangover," amplitude distortion, and intermodulation), Leak's all-new sandwich cone is so dynamic, so crystal clear, it's a smorgasbord of delicious musical treats.

A TASTY LISTENING EXPERIENCE

A stiff aluminium outer skin is sandwiched to a closed-cell rigid foam polymer (polymethacrylimide), often used in aerospace applications. Feather light, immensely rigid and distortion free, this ingenious sandwich of materials creates a tasty listening experience you can sink your teeth into.

TWO HALVES OF THE SAME SANDWICH

Leak's 'handed' array presentation means that the Sandwich has a definitive left and right speaker pair. This meticulous placement of each driver enables truly precise stereo imaging, placing you deep within the heart of highly detailed musical landscapes.

Honouring its forebears, the modern Sandwich incorporates real-wood veneer, aluminium trim and decorative cloth grilles, all to ensure that today's Leak Sandwich looks as delicious as it sounds. Because it shouldn't just be the music that makes you salivate.

TWICE THE MEAL

The modern Leak Sandwich serves up twice the meal thanks to its braced multilayer sandwich construction of differing timbers bonded by a layer of damping glue. By mitigating cabinet vibrations that colour and distort playback, your music becomes nothing short of mouthwatering.

OUT-PERFORMING ITS CONTEMPORARIES

Modern loudspeakers suffer from an audible thinning known as baffle step, causing a perceived reduction in the all-important lower mid and bass frequencies. Not Leak Sandwich. Its classic, wide-baffle design eliminates baffle step, giving your vocals the richness and depth they deserve.

PLAYS IN PERFECT HARMONY

An isolated and damped rear chamber reduces the treble unit's resonant frequency below the crossover point. So bass, mid and high frequencies can be sewn together with an added dimension of detail and harmonics that ensure every note plays in perfect harmony.
