This creates unparalleled quality control while maintaining the lowest possible price. And with a range that extends from entry-level to extreme luxury, Wharfedale has a specific loudspeaker to suit you – anywhere along your audio journey.

Bookshelf speakers are often cited for being affordable, compact, and efficient. So, they’re cost effective, easy to position and require less amp power – making them a highly attractive option. While they don’t produce the same presence as floorstanding speakers, they’re often thought to produce better imaging properties.

THE ORIGINAL… AMPLIFIED!

You don’t reinvent the wheel—it’s the wheel! You give it rubber tread and watch it fly down the highway. The Elysian R Series isn't reinvention; it’s a highly considered, meaningful refinement of luxury audio’s most affordable speaker series, pairing elevated engineering and modern matt finishes with uncompromising component upgrades. It's everything you loved about the original, amplified.

ELYSIAN 1R. PRINCE OF THE PRIDE

This upgraded 2-way standmount loudspeaker purist includes an enhanced 27x90mm AMT driver and a fast, punchy 7" (180mm) coated glass fibre bass driver. This makes Elysian 1R prince of the pride, standing as the most compact and agile member of the lineage.

A LUXURY FINISH

Available in striking contemporary matt black or lunar grey, alongside a premium high-gloss piano lacquered walnut wood veneer, Elysian R features carefully refined matt black metalwork, specialised driver trims, and updated detailing that seamlessly integrate into premium modern living spaces.

PUT A SPELL ON YOU

An ultra-lightweight PET pleated diaphragm meets a newly engineered, acoustically damped rear chamber. This high-performance AMT tweeter eliminates distortion and unlocks a spellbinding soundstage, rewarding you with breathtakingly pure clarity and sweetly extended high frequencies.

TURBULENCE FREE ENTERTAINMENT

An advanced iteration of our flagship design, optimised SLPP porting equalises high internal pressure through a specially profiled slot exit. By entirely eliminating air turbulence, this sophisticated architecture delivers ultra-clean, lightning-fast low frequencies while dramatically freeing you from room placement sensitivity.

CABINETS MADE FROM PROS

Strategic PROS Bracing optimizes a unique multi-layer wood construction featuring panels of differing densities. Reinforced by an advanced computer-modelled internal framework, it reduces panel resonance below audibility to eliminate structural cabinet colouration entirely.

THE PATH OF LEAST RESISTANCE

High-purity LC-OFC strands are wrapped in premium PET insulation, providing a pristine, high-velocity highway that erases transmission loss. By replacing standard wiring with this ultra-pure metallurgy, Elysian R delivers uncompromised performance that ensures not a single note is left behind.

INTEGRATION IN PERFECT HARMONY

Holographic soundstages pin instruments to precise physical locations as high, mid, and low frequencies strike in flawless synchronicity. Elysian R’s refined network isolates the direct-path crossover onto two split PCBs, completely shielding delicate treble signals from power-hungry bass interference for peerless musical cohesion

MOVED BY MIDRANGE

Refined midrange motors masterfully deploy a proprietary 150mm woven glass-fibre matrix cone layered in a new high-plasticity coating. Synchronized with a custom aluminium demodulation ring, it completely crushes harmonic distortion to breathe astonishing, touchable realism into vocals.

PLUMBING THE DEPTHS

Low-distortion bass systems plunge proprietary glass-fibre matrix cones deep below 30Hz. Driven by re-engineered motor architectures, they deliver absolute dynamic authority, scale, and uncompromising linear control to unleash the full-body, high-impact weight of deep percussive instruments.
