First established in 1936, Quad is one of the UK’s oldest and most prestigious audio manufacturers still in production today. Renowned for its award-winning audio electronics and loudspeakers, Quad stays true to its ideology as the closest approach to the original sound.

Bookshelf speakers are often cited for being affordable, compact, and efficient. So, they’re cost effective, easy to position and require less amp power – making them a highly attractive option. While they don’t produce the same presence as floorstanding speakers, they’re often thought to produce better imaging properties.

ASPIRATIONAL BECOMES ACCESSIBLE

Elegan’s four-year development program drives a ground-up category reset, completely redefining what’s possible in entry-tier high-fidelity. And it’s this exhaustive engineering effort that gives the next generation of audiophiles direct access to the unmistakable pedigree of Quad’s signature sound.

ELEGAN 1. SMALL FOOTPRINT. PURE EXPRESSION

Designed for coherent, near-to-midfield listening, this 2-way standmount pairs a 1” (25mm) soft dome tweeter with a 6.5” (165mm) woven Kevlar cone. Compact at 345 x 222 x 333mm, Elegan 1 effortlessly fills small-to-medium spaces with signature QUAD neutrality.

BREAK UP WITH POOR PERFORMANCE

Engineered under the direction of acoustic pioneer Peter Comeau, Elegan pairs woven Kevlar cones with ultra-light structural surrounds to deliver an advanced material alchemy that unlocks pristine pistonic behavior across an extended bandwidth. Meaning you get less cone breakup for more breathtaking vocal performance.

THAT SOUNDS SO SWEET

Turn the entire couch into one big sweet spot thanks to Elegan’s unique 25mm fabric dome tweeter with a custom-profiled waveguide. By reinforcing this almost horn-like design with a Linkwitz-Riley crossover framework, Elegan corrects off-axis directivity flaws to give you a much sweeter sweet spot.

THE HAUNTING EFFECT OF ISOLATION

To protect those hyper-critical midband frequencies, a dedicated 125mm woven Kevlar midrange driver is housed inside its own isolated internal chamber. By sealing off the midrange from turbulent back-wave energy, Elegan unlocks a haunting vocal realism rarely heard at this price.

FLAGSHIP AESTHETICS

Understated industrial architecture combines with minimalist design and clean, matt surface finishes to deliver a modern classic aesthetic. Reinforced by visual cues inherited from Quad’s flagship ESL-X electrostatic line, Elegan is nothing short of understated elegance.

HEART BEHIND EVERY BEAT

Elegan delivers tight, fast, and distinctly textured bass response by pairing aerodynamic port geometries with a dual-driver enclosure. By optimising the QUAD Airflow™ Port System, Elegan powerfully reinforces the emotional foundation of the entire performance—even with near-wall speaker positioning.

EVICTING THE UNINVITED

Poorly dampened speaker cabinets act like an amateur guest musician on your favourite album, playing out of time and blurring the rest of the performance. But, Elegan combines high-density MDF with strategic internal bracing to silence the cabinet completely, evicting your uninvited guest.

CROSSOVER TO EXCELLENCE

Enjoy a seamless, single-source listening experience where the physical speakers simply melt away. Driven by premium polypropylene capacitors, Elegan’s advanced Linkwitz-Riley crossover eliminates phase misalignments that fracture conventional soundstages, so that only the emotional purity of each performance remains.

CHOOSE YOUR WEAPON

There’s an elegant simplicity to a two-model series. Elegan 1 delivers precise, holographic sound quality tailored for smaller spaces. Elegan 2 brings the scale, headroom, and physical authority larger listening environments demand. Decision fatigue, eliminated. Choose your weapon.
