Most turntables require a phono preamplifier. Dual turntables include a built-in MM phono stage with bypass switch — connect directly to any line-level input or bypass to use your amplifier's phono input for better sound quality. The Audiolab 6000A also includes a built-in MM phono stage, making it a direct and cost-effective partner for Dual turntables.

- Level the surface. Place on a stable, level surface away from speakers to prevent acoustic feedback.
- Fit the platter and belt as per the included setup guide.
- Connect to your amplifier — RCA to phono input, or use the built-in preamp to any line input.
- Set anti-skate to match the tracking force on the cartridge (typically 1.5–2.0g for Dual factory cartridges).
- Check stylus pressure — most Dual models ship factory-set; verify against the cartridge spec sheet.

The Wharfedale Linton 85 (AU$2,299/pair) is widely praised as a vinyl-first speaker — warm, open, and well-suited to acoustic, jazz, and classic rock. For smaller rooms, the Wharfedale Diamond 12.1i (AU$699/pair) or Mission LX-2 MKII (AU$599/pair) are excellent. Pair with an Audiolab 6000A (AU$1,199, includes MM phono stage) for a complete vinyl system — all from AVR.

Belt drive uses a rubber belt to isolate the motor from the platter — reducing motor noise and vibration, preferred for hi-fi listening. Direct drive couples the motor directly to the platter for instant speed stability — preferred for DJ use. All Dual turntables distributed by AVR are belt drive designs optimised for home listening.
