Wharfedale EVO 4.2

Wharfedale is the British heavyweight champion of value-for-money loudspeakers. Every single component, from woofer cone to cabinet, is both designed and built in-house. This creates unparalleled quality control while maintaining the lowest possible price. And with a range that extends from entry-level to extreme luxury, Wharfedale has a specific loudspeaker to suit you – anywhere along your audio journey.

Have mid/high frequency preferences? You'll play things like acoustic, instrumental or rock music. Have a low frequency (bass) preference? Orchestral, hip-hop, or house is on heavy rotation. And if you dig instrument separation and recordings with complex musical arrangements, you might just favour loudspeakers with good imaging properties.

“It extracts levels of detail that are outstanding at this price point.” – HIFI CHOICE

“Bass enabled the music to roam and venture forth with more self assurance than you might normally hear.” – THE AUDIOPHILE MAN

“I repeatedly tried to uncover a flaw or shortcoming in their performance or build quality, but ultimately I couldn’t.” – THE AUDIO BEATNIK

EVO incorporates a ton of tech from Elysian, Wharfedale’s flagship series. So it’s a significant step up from Diamond & D300. And with AMT tweeters, unique cabinet designs and new slot-loaded bass ports, EVO is the next evolution in your listening journey.

Room size can dictate loudspeaker decisions: big space, big speakers. But bigger isn’t always better. Bookshelf speakers often have better imaging properties. So, if your listening preferences favour imaging, you might prefer bookshelf speakers. (Not sure. See listening preferences below)

EVO4.2 is a BIG bookshelf speaker with a 3-way design (dedicated woofers & drivers for high, mid, & low frequencies). Its increased cabinet size helps generate a big, room-filling sound while its 3-way design significantly improves audio quality (great for bass preferences).

Specific design elements were chosen to make EVO highly efficient. Air Motion Transformer (AMT) technology as well as high-flux magnets combine to ensure EVO4.2 sings with amplifiers as small as just 25W per channel. Put plainly, EVO4.2 will run off the sniff of an oily rag – no problem.
